Matana Beach Resort believes in providing you with a taste of Fiji. One night a week we have "LOVO NIGHT". Chicken, fish and vegetables are wrapped in banana leaves, buried in the ground with hot rocks and cooked the traditional way. Other meals include: barbeques, curry nights, roast dinners, seafood night, pasta night and various other international selections. Fish is always an option.Dining is in the elevated dining room on the deck or in one of our beachfront locations. If you wish, a private dinner can be served in your room or on a beachfront setting.Please advice in advance if you need anything special. It may be vegetarian meals, or some other special occasion.

The lounge bar and beach bar both offer ice cold local beers, Australian and New Zealand wines, spirits, soft drinks, juices, snacks and of course those special cocktails.

Matana doesn't need to build a swimming pool, we have the biggest pool in the world - the Pacific Ocean. Clean sandy base, aqua water and no chemicals! - Makes swimming such a pleasure.Just sixty feet along the beach from the resort are some nice coral heads - Great for snorkeling.Kayaks, Sailboards, Paddleboards, Body boards are all available for guest use, free of charge. Dive gear, Snorkeling gear and Underwater Cameras are available for hire.Fishing can be arranged either in a resort boat or village boat.We have two Bars, the Lounge Bar and the Beach Bar. Both are lovely spots to view the sunset.The lounge area has a Library of approx two thousand paperbacks, hard cover books and magazines for those that enjoy readingBoat & Driver hire is available - by arrangement.Ice Machine - self serveWater- Fiji bottled water is for sale at the bar.

• Banking - There are no banks on Kadavu. Should you need to have cash, we can exchange $US $Aust $NZ. The resort accepts travelers checks, US cash, Fijian cash, Visa & MasterCard. Please Note that American Express is not accepted. Bar - The Lagoon View Bar is open from 11.00am to 9.30pm daily. We stock an extensive range of wines, spirits and Fijian beers. Naturally the Cocktail of the Day is always available. Business Services - We have a limited ability to offer business services, after all, we are a dive resort. Email can be sent and received at a cost, as can facsimiles. Because of our remote location, communications are via a radio phone line. This makes them both costly and often very slow. Catering - Please advise us in advance if you require anything special. It may be vegetarian meals, a birthday or some other special occasion. Check-in/Check-out - times Guests may check into their rooms from 2.00pm or earlier if the room is ready. Check out time is 11.00am. Church Services - There is a lovely church in the village next to the resort. Guests of the resort are invited to attend the Sunday Services. Credit Cards - The resort accepts MasterCard & Visa ONLY. We don’t accept American Express. Dress Code - The resort is a very casual environment. We suggest that you dress to the standard that you would like whilst at Matana Beach Resort. The Fijian people are very modest and we ask that you respect their customs and traditions by avoiding revealing clothing outside the resort. We will advise at the resort. Drinking Water - The resort collects its own water from rainfall for showers, etc. Bottled water is also available for purchase from the bar.
• Electricity - The resort produces its own power through the day via a generator. For the times that the generator is not running, we operate on an inverter system. Please ask the staff before plugging in anything that uses a lot of power ie hairdryer. The power is 240 volts/50 cycles.

Hospital Services - There is a well-equipped hospital situated in Vunisea near the Kadavu airport. It takes about 15 minutes by boat to get there.Laundry - Because of the damage that detergent does to the marine ecosystem, we do not offer a laundry service for guests. Please attempt to minimize your need for laundry.Pool - Our all tide beach offers soft white sand and the perfect place to take a splash. We don't have a swimming pool as such.Restaurant - Located in the elevated dining area, we serve a variety of local and international dishes. Meals are order off the blackboard or buffet style. We always have fresh fish available when it is caught.Shopping/Nightlife - If you are looking for the disco or nightclub, you have come to the wrong place. We offer a smiling face, music from the local village players and great company. Sorry no flashing lights.Telephone Calls - Because of the isolated location, the resort only has 1 radio telephone link.Tipping - Tipping is not customary in Fiji. In fact we discourage individual tipping. We have a Staff Fund box located in the office if you would like to contribute. Gratuities are distributed to all the staff, even those that you don’t get to see, at Christmas. This is the fairest system and is the way that the chief and elders of the village want to see it done.Transport - Once you are on the island there are very few roads. In fact the resort can only be reached by water.Trips and Day Tours - We offer a range of special activities that include Trips and Day Tours

The Fiji Islands are located between Hawaii and Australia. Fiji's International Airport is located in Nadi.

Getting to Fiji is easy from most parts of the world. Carriers to Fiji include Qantas, Air Pacific, Air Nauru, Korean Airlines and Air New Zealand. Direct Flights to Fiji are available from Australia (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane) USA (LAX and Hawaii), New Zealand, Japan, Korea, New Caledonia and other Pacific Nations.We suggest that if you are traveling to Matana Beach Resort, that you try to arrive in Nadi in the morning to avoid having to stay overnight.Please check directly with your airline for their baggage allowance limits. It is often a good idea to ask the airline/travel agent to arrange an extra allowance.

Kadavu Island is serviced from both Nadi and Suva airports on a daily basis. Sunair flies from Nadi and Air Fiji flies from Suva.

Matana is located in a pristine part of the world, that major development has not yet reflected.For many years we have taken the lead in our own campaign of environmental awareness. The management, staff and local villages have all been trained and educated in many factors that could impact our local area.We have fought to have marine reserves declared.We use an invertor systems to reduce the running times on our generators. All dive sites used by Dive Kadavu use property place moorings and we have an awareness campaign for all our guests.

Our paradise will continue while we all continue to protect it.

BOOKING POLICY

Minimum 3 night stay. No children under 10 years unless part of a full Resort booking. Deposit of $200(non refundable) per person payable within 21 days of making a booking. Balance due 45 days prior to arrival date.

CANCELLATION POLICY

• If made more than 45 prior to arrival date, $200 fee per person
• If made 21-45 days prior to arival date, forfeit 50% of charge
• If made less than 21 days prior to arrival date, forfeit 100% of amount paid
